Theresa May Set To Be Next Prime Minister of Britain
Andrea Leadsom recently left the position of Conservative Party leader. This paves the way for Theresa May becoming the next prime minister of the United Kingdom. May is now the Conservative Party leader and she will become the second woman to serve Britain as prime minister.
Her colleagues have described Theresa May as a sharp political personality. Some even said she is a “bloody difficult woman” but in a very constructive manner.
May has been the home secretary for long period. She handled the country's security and managed all its immigration agencies. Throughout her service while holding this post, one of the most controversial issues she faced was that of failing to conform to a Conservative pledge to lessen the number of immigrants to Britain.
May has demonstrated support to Prime Minister David Cameron's stand on staying with the European Union. But the fact that she has said very little about this issue has generated speculations that she is indeed in favor of leaving the European Union.
May respects the people's call for 'Brexit', but she stated that she has no intention to rush the process. She said the legal procedure has to be followed and that there should be proper withdrawal, which will probably start later this year.
May expressed her intent to make the future better not just for some sectors but for the entire nation. She pledged to work on inequality and promised that equal opportunity will be given to workers.
